Project for Paraguay

Ian Melnicoe and Joe Sedig, of Denver, Colorado, started to plan a project to help other children in another part of the world when their fifth grade class talked about community service projects.

They decided to ask for help from the students at Cory Elementary School to gather soap for children in Paraguay, after hearing about worms and other infections in some of the children there. Ian and Joe made posters asking for the students to bring in soap, and offered video store coupons and candy as prizes to the kids who brought in the most soap. They raised over 600 bars of soap, which were taken on a medical mission to Paraguay, and handed out to children there.
