Medical Wings International is a global charity that has operated in developing nations since 1998.
Founded by Glenda Johnson, a American Airlines employee of 25 years, Medical Wings continues to expand into all areas of medical support. Through her travels, Ms. Johnson saw the dire need of people who suffered daily without access to the most basic healthcare. She found children to be most at risk, succumbing to diseases and health issues that had long been controlled or eradicated in the Western world.
When Cargo Agent Glenda Johnson isn't working for American Airlines, she usually off on a humanitarian mission to provide medical treatment to children in need around the world. Working with a group of airline volunteers, Glenda pioneered a series of medical missions that bring US doctors and dentists to developing countries and remote areas around the globe, where they provide medical treatment and perform operations on children who have no means to receive such help locally.
Glenda started in 1998 by talking one doctor into traveling to Haiti to provide medical care. Since that time, she has developed a network of 150 dentists, physicians, nurses, ophthalmologists, and various non-medical volunteers. She also has found sources to donate medical supplies to support a dozen trips each year to countries like El Salvador, Ecuador, Colombia, South Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mexico, Honduras and Venezuela.
Glenda feels no matter who you are or what you do you can make a difference in some-ones life by joining us to help build independence and also help to inspire healthy productive lives.
